THE WHAT:
An eccentric context (i.e. way-down, only) toward developing vertical pulling with a rope. The overcoming-pull is performed with a UNILATERAL emphasis, namely letting the TOP arm (that which goes through the greatest range of motion) take as much of the load as possible. The bottom hand/arm, then, assists as MINIMALLY as possible in controlling the eccentric tempo.
As the hands are brought progressively further apart, the unilateral quality of the pull is emphasised as assistance-potential becomes less and less. Whilst this ‘eccentric’ context is largely used to develop experience toward performing the full ‘Rope-pullup’, then, it can also be used specifically as a tool to develop UNILATERAL vertical-pulling.
