The 'Front-squat'
Weighted strength-development
•
3m 39s
THE WHAT:
A fundamental squat & strength-development context emphasising a more upright-form than it’s ‘Back squat’ counterpart, facilitating deeper range and upper-body involvement (namely the upper-back and trapezius/rhomboid complex) in supporting the bar across the ANTERIOR-shoulders.
Due to the ‘front-rack’ form required, in which the bar is locked stably in position by keeping the elbows as HIGH as possible, the practitioner should consider that its efficient execution is potentially limited, or even made inappropriate, by limitations in external shoulder-rotation which might prevent the bar’s effective & safe positioning.
