THE WHAT:
A fundamental floor-entrance & exit variation from the squat position which begins with displacement of the body backward in space, into a seated position. The shifting of centre of the mass backward, facilitated by PUSHING from the heels and a partial SLIDING of the backside along the floor, also generates slightly more momentum than a standard FEN/FEX directly from squat or seated facilitates/transmits through both the rotational ‘figure-8’ pattern of the full variation and the exit.
As an isolated FEN/FEX pattern, further to serving as another context in which to practice qualities of efficiency and “softness”, it is ultimately practiced through repetition until EMBODIED and available for use in wider practice contexts (e.g. sequencing or impro).
