Gerneral Shaking Concepts
11m
THE WHAT:
Shaking is the natural way to release tension and return the body to its normal homeostasis. It is a primal impulse to a stressful situation. Animals naturally shake to release tension after a life-threatening event. Shaking activates the parasympathetic nervous system and signals the brain to calm, relax and let go. It also activates the lymphatic system of our body, which helps our body get rid of the toxins.
From a 'movement perspective', however, I am more interested in the coordination, timing, and rhythmicality aspects of this frame as well as its use as a prehabilitative tool for releasing tension and developing/maintaining the elasticity of connective tissues. For this reason, it's great performed after sessions characterised by repeated/prolonged muscular contraction, such as upper-body strength and handstands practice. Take time to practice 10 minutes of non-stop shaking using the tools provided and you will immediately feel the benefits.
