THE WHAT & HOW:
The 'AG ('Artistic gymnastics') support' position allows for the development of strength to PULL and support oneself in the ranges of shoulder-extension. This is as opposed to the more passive range which is develop in shoulder-extension contexts, such as the 'German hang' position.
Whilst an initial heavy investment in this range attends to a common neglect of straight-arm extension (it is rarely seen in practice outside of the world of gymnastics), its development provides structural balance to the practice of end-range straight-arm FLEXION (arms overhead) contexts, such as handstand work and straight-arm strength pressing.
