Cross-legged & active 'Pigeon-stretch'
Fundamental squat & hip-mobility development

3m 27s
THE WHAT & HOW:
These ‘Cross-legged’ and ‘Active pigeon-stretch' variations offer specific mobility-development contexts in which to explore loading of the hip in an externally-rotated position. A forward “hinge” and “folding” the upper-body as far as possible over the legs then serves to LOAD the stretch under bodyweight, further to also increasing its range.
The contexts, starting with the humble ‘Cross-legged stretch’, will allow the practitioner to IMMEDIATELY determine levels of hypertonicity and range-restrictions in the glutes and hips, whether from lifestyle or practice habits, and help toward managing them in a low intensity, albeit straight-to-the-point, range of positions and progressive executions.
