THE WHAT & HOW:
The 'QDR' ('queda de rins'/"elbow on the kidneys") is an upper-body support predominantly used in the practice of Capoeira for catching a fall/evasive manoeuvre, and transitioning through a range of dynamic forms.
Whilst it is essentially a very efficient support in that the bodyweight is rested on the VERTICAL support of the forearm (i.e. in alignment with the skeletal structure) with the elbow against the hard side of the PELVIS, it requires significant investment to develop the STRUCTURAL AWARENESS for this potential to be realised.
